2010 Texas Classical Association Annual Conference

The Texas Classical Association is pleased to announce that its annual conference will be held in Austin at the new AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin on November 5-6, 2010. Sessions will begin with a lecture and reception Friday evening in Waggener Hall. All of Saturday's sessions will be held in the beautiful, new AT&T Conference Center. Our keynote speaker will be Mary Pendergraft, Professor at Wake Forest University and Chief Reader for the AP Exam. Mary's Friday afternoon lecture will focus on the connections among Austin, Greensboro, O. Henry, and the Classics. On Saturday, she will be discussing the new AP Latin exam.

We welcome proposals for papers to be presented at the TCA annual conference. Topics from all areas of Classical scholarship and pedagogy are welcome. Topics of special interest are listed below :
- Oral Latin
- How Latin programs are adapting to the removal of the AP Latin Literature option.

 


Papers are typically about 25 minutes long. Please send an abstract of no more than one page to Jennie Luongo, TCA President, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, 5901 Southwest Parkway, Austin, TX 78735, by Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Submissions may be made may mail or email (jluongo[at]sasaustin.org). Presenters will have their conference fee waived.
