Classical Traditions in Modern Fantasy

What role do Greco-Roman classical traditions play in modern fantasy? This special session invites papers examining the reception of classical literature and ancient history in modern fantasy in any medium, including literature, film, television, and comics.

Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association 2012

The annual meeting of the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association will be held at Seattle University, October 19-21 2012. PAMLA (previously Pacific Coast Philological Association) is a regional MLA with a strong tradition of including sessions and papers on the ancient world. This year's Classics-focussed sessions include: Classics (Greek), Classics (Latin), Ancient-Modern Relations, and Classical Traditions in Modern Fantasy; other general thematic sessions welcome submissions by Classicists. Please visit the PAMLA website at pamla.org for details on how to submit abstracts. The deadline for submissions is April 22, 2012.
