Call for applications: Funding of scientific conferences

The Patrum Lumen Sustine-Foundation (Basel) offers funding of up to €15,000 for scientific conferences taking place in the first half of 2025.
The conferences should be organised in the following fields: Classics/Greek and Latin Literature, Classical Archeology, the Archeology and Art History of the Middle Ages, and the Reception of Ancient and Medieval Culture in the Western Tradition.
Applications must be submitted online via the web form of the foundation by the following deadlines:
1 October to 30 November 2024 (project start from 1 February 2025)

Job Posting: Professor of Late Antique Latin Literature and Thought

The Department of Classics and the Centre for Medieval Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invite applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Late Antique Latin Literature and Thought – broadly conceived. This will be a joint appointment between the Department of Classics (75%) and the Centre for Medieval Studies (25%). The appointment will be at the rank of Professor, beginning July 1, 2025, or shortly thereafter. The successful candidate will be eligible for the Jackman Professorship in the Humanities for a five-year term, which will be renewable following a favourable review.

Lecture et critique des manuscrits latins

Le cours est ouvert à tous ceux et toutes celles qui ont la curiosité (ou la nécessité) de se reporter aux manuscrits antiques, médiévaux ou modernes qui ont transmis les œuvres latines de l'Antiquité et du Moyen Âge. Il ne suppose aucune connaissance préalable, si ce n'est une certaine familiarité avec la langue latine ; outre la formation de base nécessaire à l'édition des textes anciens (paléographie, codicologie, ecdotique, histoire des textes), le séminaire inclura, au 2nd semestre, des visites de bibliothèques et/ou des conférences faites par des intervenants extérieurs.

L'exposition vous amènera dans un jardin à la romaine où les plantes sont variées. Comment sont-elles utilisées ? Peut-on les manger, les transformer en parfum, teinture, médicament ?
